What would it take for product leaders to succeed in 2021?
Product management is a highly collaborative role, requiring coordination with many teams and business functions — sales & marketing, customer service, market research, user research, tech-engineers, partners, external stakeholders, and so on. With pandemic hitting in 2020, this role is forced to be performed from home/ remotely and poses a unique challenge for product leaders to move things forward efficiently.
To get a view of product leadership in 2021, I recently had the honor of speaking with four great leaders in the product management community. I learned that each has their own perspective, but there are some common themes in what thought leaders in this domain are thinking.
